Water supply systems are particularly important infrastructure in urban areas. Currently, in Vietnam’s major cities, there are many residential areas that do not have enough clean water to use, but in fact, the amount of clean water loss is very large, the national average is about 33%. For water supply companies, loss reduction (NRW) is a key issue, especially in developing countries with high loss coefficients.
To minimize water loss, the first thing to do is to come up with a solution to collect data on the water supply system. From this data source, we will conduct analysis to come up with measures to prevent water loss such as zoning the loss for inspection and remedial work.
Following, with the strength of measuring equipment of SIEMENS, ASEAN TRADING AND ENGINEERING JOINT STOCK COMPANY (ASEATEC) would like to offer a solution to collect data for the water supply system.

Working principle of the system:
The device measures and sends signals of water flow, total water volume, etc. to the data storage and transmission unit. The data storage and transmission unit send the signal to the host computer over the GSM/GPRS network. Thereby we will monitor the water supply system through the host computer.

Components of the water supply monitoring system
A water supply monitoring system includes flow meters, processor and signal transmission via GPRS, operation monitoring computer. ASEATEC company offers the following equipment solutions:
Flow measuring device:
The flow meter used is the SITRANS F FLOWMETERS MAG 8000 (Figure 2) of SIEMENS. The MAG 8000 is an electromagnetic flowmeter designed to meet the global water metering standards OIML R 49 and the European standard CEN EN 14154.

Transmitter
1. Installation: install away from sensors, with anti-interference cable included with transmitter with optional preset lengths of 5, 10, 20 or 30m with IP68 grade clamp on bottom of sensor body
2. Power supply: 3.6V 33Ah battery (FDK-087L4150), works for about 6 years and is replaceable.
3. Case: stainless steel (AISI16), bottom covered with brass. Transmitter mounting bracket in stainless steel
4. Display and control keys:
· 6-digit display for main measurement parameters
· Control keys for instantaneous flow, total flow, call function menus
5. Output signal: 02 passive pulse signals (MOS) in the forward – reverse direction
· Withstand the maximum voltage 30VDC, 50mA short circuit

Data storage and transmission:
The data storage and transmission use the Cello set (Figure 3) of Technolog (UK).

· Integrated GSM/GPRS modem and antenna inside the cello, band: 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz

· Format data structures with very little memory, each value stored in 1 or 2 bytes
· There are 2 data storage modes that can be set: storage to full memory or storage of projection roll
· It is possible to set the alarm level. An alarm will be sent to the center as soon as there is an alarm
